This purchase entails the sale the Urban Farming & Gardening Master Class (Course Only)
Become a certified urban agriculturalist through this immersive 11-week online course. This is a bundle package to include both the 11-week online webinars and the certification exam. The course will start on Tuesday, September 24 at 6:00p and the lecture will be recorded for those unavailable at that time. Each week a different topic will be covered in regards to urban agriculture. Participants will also be given a service-learning project that can be conducted at Gardopia, or their nearest garden / farm. Upon completion of this course, participants will be full prepared to take the certification exam that will enhance competitiveness in the workforce.
Class Instructors:
Sherry Lim is the Chief Learning Officer for Gardopia Gardens. She loves teaching students how to be better environmentalists whether that is learning to cook with local ingredients, growing your own food, or learning to reduce waste at home. She graduated with her Masters from UTSA in Curriculum and Instruction and her Bachelors in Biology from UT Austin.
Stephen Lucke BS, MA, COF is the CEO and Founder of Gardopia Gardens. Stephen completed his undergraduate studies in biochemistry (2012) and his masters degree in nutrition (2020). Stephen also studied organic farming (2019) and the master gardening course (2016). In addition to his education, Stephen has been practicing urban agriculture in South Texas since 2012 on public and private land, Since 2015 Stephen has been teaching youth and adults the intricacies of urban agriculture, and the benefits to human and environmental health.
Dominic Dominguez holds a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science & Policy with a Specialization in Biology from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. He also holds a Masters in Sustainability & Development from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He holds a LEED Green Associate Creditential from the United States Green Building Council. Dominic is a Certified Master Gardener & Master Wellness through Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Bexar County. He is a member of the Clinton Global Initiative University Alumni, where his research focused on the circumvention of non-communicable diseases through garden-based learning. As a LEED practitioner and sustainability professional, Dominic’s interests consider spatial design, urban planning, applied research, GIS analysis, 3D modeling, triple-net-zero/regenerative infrastructure initiatives, and equity expansion.
